I cannot remember the moment I knew I was going to be a writer. I started writing short stories and poems at the tender age of 6. And it just grew from there.

I started winning writing and spelling contests in first grade, and almost every year thereafter. As I got older, my dreams of being a professional writer grew stronger. Eventually I went to college and studied English Literature, which seemed like the best fit for me. I wanted to read everything I could get my hands on, as reading is the best type of research any writer can do.

After graduation, I literally fell into the world of print journalism. It was not my plan. I always believed I was a fiction writer - fantasy, science fiction and horror - but I soon learned that I was also a journalist-at-heart. I flourished as a journalist and quickly climbed my way to an editor position at a major newspaper.

After spending 10 years full time in print journalism, I am embarking on a new career as a freelance writer, hoping to give myself the opportunity to broaden my work and do a variety of different types of writing, in addition to completing my first book.
